Cahaba's NP Residency Program Receives Grant Funding

Cahaba Medical Care, a leading provider of healthcare services in areas of Alabama where people have been made vulnerable, is proud to announce that its Nurse Practitioner Program has been awarded a prestigious grant of $2.8 million over four years. This generous grant will enable Cahaba Medical Care to significantly expand its training capacity, allowing the organization to train and equip 5-7 nurse practitioners each year.

Cahaba Medical Care is renowned for its commitment to excellence in healthcare and its focus on serving communities that have been marginalized, particularly in the primary care sector. With the mission to educate, equip, and inspire newly graduated nurse practitioners, the organization aims to prepare these professionals for careers in underserved, federally qualified health center (FQHC) primary care environments.

The vision of Cahaba Medical Care is to provide exceptional didactic and clinical educational opportunities and experiences to its residents, empowering them with competence and confidence as they strive to deliver extraordinary primary care. All efforts are underpinned by the core values that drive Cahaba Medical Care: integrity, compassion, and dedication.

"We are thrilled to receive this substantial grant, which will greatly enhance our ability to train nurse practitioners who are passionate about serving communities that need it the most," said Josh Elledge, DNP & Program Director. "This funding will enable us to expand our program and provide high-quality education and experience to our residents. Our ultimate goal is to deliver extraordinary healthcare that not only meets the needs of our patients but also glorifies Christ Jesus."

Cahaba Medical Care's Nurse Practitioner Program offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines classroom learning with practical, hands-on experience. Through partnerships with local clinics and hospitals, residents gain exposure to a variety of healthcare settings, working under the guidance of experienced practitioners who provide mentorship and support.

With the grant, Cahaba Medical Care will have the resources necessary to recruit and retain exceptional faculty and staff, enhance its curriculum, expand its clinical placement options, and provide residents with the tools they need to succeed in their careers as nurse practitioners.
