Kay Cox - Chief Compliance Officer & Counsel
Kay Cox graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2011. Before joining Cahaba Medical Care in July 2013, she served as vice president for legal and compliance at Optimal Radiology. Her responsibilities at CMC have included daily operations issues, facility lease and purchase negotiations, equipment purchases, and credentialing and insurance enrollment. She has also managed human resources, including oversight of payroll, recruiting and new employee orientation during CMC’s expansion from 20 employees in 2013 to more than 100 employees in 2016. In 2016, Kay transitioned from her role in operations to chief compliance officer, focusing on compliance with HRSA regulations and quality accreditation organization standards, in addition to continuing management of the human resources department.
Carl Kennedy - Chief Financial Officer
Carl Kennedy, a summa cum laude finance graduate of the University of Alabama, joined Cahaba Medical Care in March of 2018. He brings over 25 years of finance, accounting, and leadership experience from companies that include General Motors Corp. and Hospital Corporation of America. He has served in such roles as vice president of finance, comptroller, business unit finance director, manager of human resources, project manager, and manager of organizational change management. His career assignments have taken him from Tuscaloosa, Alabama; to Rochester and Buffalo, New York; Detroit, Michigan; Denver, Colorado; Toronto, Ontario in Canada; Milan, Italy; and now, Centreville, Alabama. He has completed coursework in five different masters programs in business management and accounting in the various locations where he has been assigned. In his spare time, he enjoys activities that enrich the body and the soul including hiking, recreational biking, nature, art, history, music and theatre.
Jackie Palmer, RN - Chief Quality Officer
Jackie Palmer began her career at Cahaba Medical Care in 2012, serving as the nurse manager in Centreville and quality improvement officer until her recent transition to chief quality officer in 2018. In this role, she leads quality improvement projects, including meaningful use, patient centered medical home (PCMH) accreditation, Joint Commission accreditation, infection control and uniform data systems submissions. She received an Associate in Applied Science degree from Shelton State in 2007, then went on to earn her BS in nursing from the University of South Alabama in 2017. Her grandmother was a nurse and played a major role in her career decision. Since joining CMC, Jackie has felt truly blessed to be a part of the mission to care for all in the community. She and her husband, Landon, have two daughters, Lalyn and Avelyn. When she’s not working, she likes to read and spend time with family, and she also serves as a member of the Cahawba Junior Women’s Club.
Michelle Rogers - Chief Experience Officer
Michelle Rogers has been a resident of Bibb County her entire life and joined Cahaba Medical Care in September of 2013. She graduated with her bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama in 2002, and obtained her master’s degree in 2014. Her duties at Cahaba Medical Care range from human resources and daily operating issues, with a primary focus on employee and patient satisfaction. She and her husband Brett have two children, Sophia and Bronson. She is a member of Brent Baptist Church and serves as a member of the Cahaba Junior Women’s League.
Ashley Middlebrooks, RN - Director of Operational Efficiency
Born in raised in Florida, Ashley Middlebrooks joined Cahaba Medical Care in May 2011 as a medical assistant. After several years of working as an MA, she decided to go back to school to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN) and obtained her degree while continuing to work full time for CMC. Shortly after, she enrolled to become a registered nurse (RN) and was awarded her degree from Judson College in 2017. Ashley has previously served as office manager for CMC’s Centreville office, as well as assistant director of nursing and accreditation. She recently made the shift from nursing to operations, where she now serves as director of operational efficiency. She currently resides in Brent with her husband, Russell, and their two children, Makenzie and Sawyer.

Kimberly Holladay - Financial Coordinator
Kim Holladay grew up in Heiberger, a small community right outside of Marion in Perry County, and is a graduate of Bibb County High School in Centreville. She began working for Cahaba Medical Care in 2013 and has been a key member of CMC’s accounting/finance department ever since. She graduated from Judson College in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in business and psychology, then went on to attend graduate school at Troy University where she obtained her Master of Business Administration in 2011. She currently resides in Pondville with her husband, Jeremy, their son, John Morgan, and their three dogs.
Renee Pence - Billing Coordinator
Renee Pence was born and raised in Brent, Alabama and recently celebrated her 10-year anniversary with Cahaba Medical Care in August of 2018. During her first years with CMC, she was responsible for 100 percent of the clinic’s billing and has since persevered through the clinic’s transition to a rural health center and later to a Federally-Qualified Health Center (FQHC). She has learned surgical, wound care and specialty billing and is certified as a community health coding & billing specialist by the Association for Rural Health Professional Coding. As billing coordinator, she supervises our billing team and oversees billing operations for all CMC clinic locations. In her spare time, Renee enjoys boating and spending time with family and friends. She currently resides in Brent with her husband, Tim, and their daughters, Breanna and Monica.

Sandy Creel - Provider Enrollment Specialist
Sandy Creel is a native of Marengo County but has resided in Bibb County for more than 15 years. She joined Cahaba Medical Care in August of 2015 as a receptionist and has since transitioned to her current role as provider enrollment specialist. She graduated from Huntingdon College in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science with a major in business management. Sandy currently lives in Centreville with her husband, Terry, their two daughters - Kristen, who attends Jefferson State Community College and also works as a medical assistant at Cahaba Medical Care, and Carley - and one granddaughter, Maci. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and serving others.

Angie Johnson - Administrative Assistant
Angie Johnson has been a resident of Bibb County her entire life. She joined Cahaba Medical Care in 2017 as a receptionist and shortly after, transitioned to her role as administrative assistant to the chief compliance officer, chief quality officer and chief nursing officer. “My mother was a patient of Dr. JB Waits for many years, so I knew the mission behind the work and was so excited to become a part of this amazing clinic.” she stated. Angie has two daughters - Kimmy, who attends the University of Alabama and works for Cahaba Medical Care part time, and Katelynn, who attends Troy University and is a majorette with the Sound of the South marching band. In her spare time, she enjoys watching Alabama football and attending Troy University football games to watch her daughter perform.
Jennifer Crim - Human Resources Assistant
Jennifer Crim was born and raised in Alabama and is a graduate of Bibb County High School in Centreville. She brings more than 10 years of experience in management and human resources, as well as previous training in various business, education and health classes. She joined Cahaba Medical Care as a medical assistant in November of 2017, then transitioned to the administrative team in October of 2018. Jennifer currently resides in Centreville with her husband and their two children. In her spare time, she enjoys baking, photography, football and hosting.
Brittany Shanks - Cahaba Family Medicine Residency Program Coordinator
Brittany Shanks grew up in Bibb County and attended the University of Alabama. She served as chief operating officer of Cahaba Medical Care for more than two years before becoming program coordinator of Cahaba Family Medicine Residency. "The thing I love most about my job is getting to be a part of training the next generation of family physicians,” she stated. She and her husband, Brandon, currently live in Maplesville with their two sons, Bryant and Brooks, where they are members of Maplesville Baptist Church. When she's not working, she enjoys cooking and baking, bargain hunting and yard sale shopping, singing in the church choir, and watching SEC football. She noted that if she did not work for CMC, she would love to be an ESPN sideline reporter.
Catarina Mojica - Cahaba Family Medicine Residency Associate Program Coordinator
Originally from Bessemer, Catarina joined the Cahaba family in 2018 as the Associate Residency Program Coordinator for CFMR’s Urban Track. She obtained a bachelor’s degree from UAB in business management with a concentration in human resources in 2017. She has always had an interest in organizing and coordinating special projects, so this position was well-suited her skill set. The mission of Cahaba Family Medicine Residency also resonated with her, as she always desired to work for a company that used their resources to give to the least of these. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering at her local church, working with the youth and children ministries. She also loves spending time with her family, friends and dogs, whether that’s taking a hike or going shopping.

Natasha Cutts - Cahaba Family Medicine Residency Program Assistant
