Ashley Evans, MD - Physician & CFMR Faculty
Dr. Evans is a board-certified pediatrician, serving at several Cahaba Medical Care clinic locations throughout Bibb County. She earned her medical degree from UAB in 1991, then completed her residency at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham in 1994. She previously served as faculty at the University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences for 24 years. She is a lifelong resident of Tuscaloosa, where she enjoys spending time with her family, as well as her dogs, cats and horses.
Andria Knighten, CRNP - Nurse Practitioner
Andria Knighten is originally from West Blocton, Alabama where she graduated from West Blocton High School. She joined Cahaba Medical Care in 2018 and serves as nurse practitioner for CMC’s School-Based Health Clinics in Bibb County. She was a RN for 13 years before becoming a certified registered nurse practitioner (CRNP) and is also certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). She currently resides in Centreville with her husband, Joey, and their two children, Drew and Gracyn.
Tameka Lavender-Hyche, LICSW, PIP - Counselor
Tameka Lavender-Hyche is a native of Aliceville in Pickens County and has been a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) for 14 years. She currently serves as counselor for CMC’s School-Based Health Clinics in Bibb County. She has previously provided counseling services for Tuscaloosa City Schools, the University of Alabama and the Department of Veterans Affairs. She currently resides in Tuscaloosa with her husband, Darrius, and their two children, Chloe and Aiden.
Amanda Wiggins grew up in Bibb County and began working for Cahaba Medical Care in October 2004, only three months after it first opened in Centreville. She has worn many hats throughout her time time with CMC, handling duties such as triage, nursing, reception, inventory and purchasing, phone calls, scheduling, vaccines, OSHA/HIPAA compliance, new staff orientation and training, and many others. She recently transitioned to a new position as office manager and nurse for CMC’s School-Based Health Clinics, which opened in August of 2018 to serve students within the Bibb County School System. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, Madison, and supporting her interests and activities.
Liz Cook, LAT, ATC - Athletic Trainer
Nick Opolski - Athletic Trainer
Originally from Massachusetts, Nick Opolski joined Cahaba Medical Care in September 2018. He attended the University of New England where he received a bachelor’s degree in psychology, then went on to obtain a bachelor’s in athletic training from the University of Southern Maine. His favorite part about working for CMC is having the opportunity to help people on a daily basis and working with highly educated healthcare professionals. Nick enjoys the outdoors, weightlifting, sports, music, learning and dogs. He currently resides in Tuscaloosa and hopes to get a dog soon.
Charles Jackson, BSW - Social Worker
Charles has been working in social work for the past five years and joined Cahaba Medical Care in January 2019. He provides social work services at our clinics in Centreville and Marion, and he assists with our School-Based Health Clinics as well. He currently resides in Centreville with his wife and their two children.
